RE:DESIGNED IS GIVING THE CRAFT WORLD LUXURIOUS BAGS FOR THEIR PROJECTS
By: Hillary LeBlanc
A sustainable focus has pierced through most markets — home goods, bathroom essentials, makeup and of course textiles. One niche area of textiles that seemed to be missing sustainable options was an innovation for the crafting world. The brand Re:Designed felt that anyone who took part in crafts, like knitting and crocheting, deserved not only a stylish bag for their supplies but something luxurious, timeless and sustainable. Re:Designed PROJECT is the answer to this niche need.
Re:Designed was founded in 2003 in Denmark with a focus on leather fashion bags. They now have a presence in 26 countries currently with a focus on quality leather, durable craftsmanship and timeless pieces. The Re:Designed team uses leather coming from meat production to minimize waste. They use 100% climate neutral packaging made from FSC Certified forests, their hangtags are also FSC Certified and they use low minimum quantity orders to produce less inventory. Re:Designed sells bumbags, various purses, toiletry bags and work bags. The brand has recently started using canvas as well, to offer a vegan but sustainable option to their offerings. They also sell leather accessories like gloves, belts and everyday essentials. Notably, they are one of a few sustainable vendors available at the infamous Louisiana museum in Copenhagen.

20 years after the brand was built they introduced Re:Designed PROJECT. Co-Founder Mia Brunbjerg Dahl joined Re:Designed after completing a degree in purchasing roughly 18 years ago. Dahl is the driving force behind Re:Designer PROJECT. The idea was born after Mia rediscovered knitting during her first pregnancy. As she worked on more projects, she felt there was no appropriate storage solution that matched the care she put into her craft. With Dahl’s eye for function and aesthetics, she set out to design a solution which led to Re:Designed PROJECT’s creation.
Re:Designed PROJECT was created especially for crafters, designed with knitters especially in mind. Emilie Resen from the Re:Designed team shared that each piece offers practical and elegant storage for knitting, embroidery projects, crochet accessories, supporting creativity at home and on the go. “We wanted to make it easier for crafters to keep their tools organized and protected, whether they are crafting at home or taking their projects with them,” Resen tells us. Bags can be purchased and grouped together to allow a customized PROJECT storage solution. They’re latest bag design launching this year is a huge PROJECT carrying bag with no zippers, meaning no textile snag, caught yard or hiccups when closing. By using magnet fastener’s the project tools inside the bag stay safe and pristine.

Their storage solutions help organize knitting needles, crochet hooks, double-pointed needles, stitch markers, scissors, yarn, and accessories in a practical and beautiful way. Products include needle cases, buckets, bags and organizers. The Re:Designed PROJECT bags are crafted from durable leather and are made to accompany customers for years, developing even more character with everyday use. With Re:Designed sells other bags, the bags created for PROJECT can also double as cosmetic holders, storage solutions for office supplies, travel accessories, or other belongings so they are versatile. “We believe that responsibility starts with creating products that are made to last.,” Resen shares. “Rather than producing fast-fashion items, we focus on timeless designs crafted from high-quality materials that can be used and enjoyed for many years.”
“While we know there's always more to do, we remain committed to improving our processes and making thoughtful choices that contribute to a more responsible future,” shares Resen.
While Re:Designed Fashion has been showing at various Scandinavian fashion weeks, Re:Designed PROJECT has been at various textile fairies, sharing their luxury leather goods with the world.
