MON COEUR’S LATEST COLLABORATION ENCOURAGES PEOPLE TO TREAT THE ENVIRONMENT LIKE THEY TREAT CHILDREN - WITH LOVE
By: Erica Commisso
On May 15 2025, children’s brand Mon Coeur, which translates to My Heart launched a partnership with Billion Oyster Project, unveiling a limited collection that aims to highlight the importance of environmental restoration.
Both the brand and initiative are based in New York City, so the collaboration seems like a natural fit and focuses on restoring one of Manhattan’s own ecosystems. Fifteen percent of proceeds from each of the pieces from the Mon Coeur collection will benefit Billion Oyster Project, and the money will add to the organization’s goal of restoring one billion oysters by 2035.
The donation will support Billion Oyster Project’s mission to restore oyster reefs and encourage the public to engage in making the New York Harbor a world-class public blue space. A blue space is an outdoor environment that prominently features water and is accessible to people, and it can be either natural or man-made. Exposure to these spaces has proven beneficial to humans, as they’ve been linked to positive impacts on mental and physical health in the form of reduced stress, improved mood, and increased physical activity.

The children’s brand, for its part, aims to inspire families to act towards environmental thoughtfulness at an early age, with conscious choices and care in mind. The collection in particular includes the brand’s essential kids’ sweatshirt, the T-shirt and its classic rashguard reimagined with shell inspired prints, embroidery and aquatic colourways. As per the brand’s ethos, everything is designed to be durable and sustainably made using eco-friendly, recycled materials, and crafted with style and sensibility in mind.
“At Mon Coeur, we believe in nurturing the planet just as we nurture our children,” says Louise Ulukaya, founder of Mon Coeur. “Our collaboration with the Billion Oyster Project is a celebration of the incredible work they’re doing to restore marine life right here in New York City. This capsule collection is more than just clothing—it’s a conversation starter, a way for kids and families to connect with the ocean, and a reminder that even the smallest hands can make waves. We’re so proud to support a mission that’s rebuilding not only New York’s harbors, but also our planet.”
Murray Fisher and Pete Malinowski founded Billion Oyster Project in 2014, hoping to restore the New York Harbor - including Pier 101, through action and education. Oysters are at the center of the restoration project and the initiative not only because of their part in a water ecosystem, but also because of their storied history in New York City - they were even used as materials to build the city into what it is, used in roads and buildings alike - and they represent, to Malinowski and Fisher, a relationship between humans and nature.

Mon Coeur, meanwhile, was officially launched in 2021, though Ulukaya began dreaming up a sustainable children’s brand after her son was born, coming up with the idea for Mon Coeur and closing the loop in children’s clothing in 2018.
The collaboration is the latest in a lengthy list of partnerships the children’s brand has embarked upon, highlighting the brand’s commitment to the environment. It also supports 1% For the Planet in beach and ocean cleanups as well as tree planting, works with factories exclusively in Italy, Spain, France and Portugal to ensure that factory workers are paid fair wages and use sustainable materials, and partnered with 5Gyres institute to educate people on a zero-waste future.
“The climate crisis poses an existential threat; if we don’t clean up our mess, we’ll be history,” Ulukaya says on the brand’s website. Business has a role to play, but it’s only one lever. We must use all the tools at our disposal to secure a safer, more just future.”
The Billion Oyster Project x Mon Coeur capsule collection is available exclusively on the brand’s website.
